After the tragedy in Las Vegas the Las Vegas Modern Quilt Guild began a quilt drive for victims, their families, first responders and heroes from that night. We knew at once that this was something we want to be a part of. The LVMQG is asking for finished quilts, tops and blocks along with binding, backing, and batting. As a guild we're changing it up a little bit and are going to be making a block that is a modern take on the snowball block. Check out this mock up!
We are asking for participants to make four 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" blocks using a low volume print background and a brightly colored solid or near solid accent.
Blocks can be made using either a traditional or improv snowball method. Click below to download and print out the instructions.
If you have a new or gently used quilt already made around your home and would like to donate it they are welcomed too! All donations and blocks are due by Nov 3rd. A couple of area quilt shops will be collecting finished blocks through November 3rd:
- Bear Paw Quilting: 600 W Kathleen Ave #10 Coeur d'Alene
- The Quilting Bee: 16002 E Broadway Ave, Spokane Valley
If you would like to donate a finished quilt, backing fabric, batting, binding please bring those items to the INMod sew day November 3rd, 4:00pm -8:00pm at the North Spokane County Library, 44 E Hawthorne, Spokane.
We want to thank you in advance for your generous donations and we know that this quilt will find a special home in Las Vegas.
