August News and Events

Hi all, we hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks for summer. This month's sew day will be Saturday August 18th, 10:00am to 4:00pm, at the Associated Industries building (1206 N Lincoln St, Set 200, Spokane, WA 99201). We're looking forward to seeing everyone there.

During sew day there will be fabric available for member wanted to make blocks for Washington and Oregon police officers in injured or killed in the line of duty. Cassie Scott (@modernclemintine) collects the blocks and assembles quilts to give to either the family or officers wounded or killed. She asked that those making blocks follow the Reverse Sawtooth Star pattern by Suzy Quilts using only navy and white fabrics, prints welcomed. If you would like to make a block or two or more there will be more information and materials at sew day.

Last month our guild chose the design for our raffle quilt. Our next raffle quilt will feature a warm palette and the very popular pickle dish design with a modern twist. Thank you to everyone that submitted designs! We will be passing out fabric and packets at the beginning of the year to try and get an early start on this project.

September is just a few weeks away and we have several fun events planed for next month. There will be our regular sew day but for those looking to change things up we will be car pooling to Ephrata and spending the day with the Moses Lake MQG. They have invited us to a fun day of sewing, eating and going to a great little store, The Fabric Patch (one of Quilt Sampler's best 10 quilt shops!).

In addition to our road trip and sew day don't forget to sign up for either the lecture or workshop with Christina Cameli, September 21st and 22nd.
