November News and Events

November Sew Day is Saturday the 17th from 10 am to 4 pm at the Associated Industries' building (1206 N Lincoln St, Ste 200, Spokane, WA 99201).  At Sew Day we will be completing our QuiltCon charity quilt!  This year we will be making the quilt as a guild and are asking members to bring solid fabrics and near solid fabrics to Sew Day that exactly match the Modern Quilt Guild's color palette, see below:

We also have some fun homework for our members.  This year's theme is small piecing, more details on the QuiltCon webpage, and the charity quilt design will incorporate micro pieced quilt blocks no larger than 2" x 2".  Members can also piece strips of HST or flying geese no lager than 2" x 6".  If your not sure where to start below are several links to FREE micro quilt block paper pieced patterns:
Please make 3-5, or more, micro blocks and bring them to November's sew day.  Don't fret if you aren't into paper piecing the micro blocks can be straight pieced or improv pieced.

We want to thank everyone that attended the Washington State Quilter's Quilt Show last month.  So many of our members had quilts in the show including a great sampling of this year's Tiger Lily Curve quilt challenge.

Don't worry if you missed the show you can still check out some amazing modern quilts at the downtown Spokane Library.  Currently hanging at the library is a modern quilt showcase featuring INMod members' work!

The quilts will be on display through November with a presentation Nov 13th from 6:30 - 7:30 at the library.  The presentation is open to the public and will walk through what makes a quilt modern.

One last bit of information, dues for next year are due by the end of the year.  If you are already a member the quickest way to pay is via PayPal, please use the friend and family function and send funds to inmodquiltguild@gmail.com.  If PayPal isn't an option please see the membership tab for the mailing address or pay in person at November sew day or at the Christmas party.  If you're not a member and would like to join please visit our membership tab and fill out the membership form and mail it to the address on that page.

This is definitely a busy time of year for the guild and we hope to see everyone at Sew Day!
