January News and Events - Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!  We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to jump into an exciting 2020!  Our next sew day is January 18th from 10 am to 4 pm at 1206 N Lincoln St, Ste 200, 99201 (space is limited, see below for details).  Don't forget to renew your membership for 2020.  Please pay using the friends and family feature on PayPal, inmodquiltguild@gmail.com, or pay in person at sew day.

The theme for our guild this year is Original Design!  Our guild has an amazing opportunity to submit original work for an art exhibit in 2023.  Even though it seems a long ways away we want our members to start producing original quilts to submit to the exhibit.

Swatches by Heather Black

To jumpstart your creativity we will be having a series of workshops in 2020 encouraging original design.  The first is a 3 hour workshop by our own Heather Black.  She will be explaining the role of color in quilt design through a series of watercolor exercises.  The class will end with an opportunity to create your own original quilt block artwork using the techniques learned in the class.

Space for January's sew day will be limited to 20 people so we are asking that only INMod members attend and RSVP to the guild email by January 15th:

For those attending the workshop there will be a $35 fee to cover the cost of the kit needed for the class, to be paid at the workshop.

After the the workshop is over, around 2 in the afternoon, attendees are welcome to stay and work on their sewing projects just as if it is a regular sew day or head out.  We hope that this workshop will encourage our members to experiment with colors in their own quilts and start to design original work.

  1. I am really excited for the opportunity to learn more about color and start the process of original design. Thanks for doing the workshop for us, Heather.
